The Associated Radio Amateurs of Long Beach, Inc. (
ARALB ) offers
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) authorized Amateur Radio testing the third Saturday each month. Come to the California State University Campus at Long Beach (CSULB) by 0900 hours. The University Police Station/Information Center is located at the South end of CSULB parking lot #11, off Palo Verde Ave. at Atherton St., one-half mile South of the I-405 freeway. Report to the police station conference room to sign-in for testing.
Testing for up to all 3 elements is
offered at $4 during one sitting.
Another fee is charged for the re-testing of any failed elements, if authorized by the session Volunteer Examiner-in-Charge. Our reduced testing fee is offered through the Greater Los Angeles Amateur Radio Group (GLAARG-VEC) as Volunteer Examiner Coordinator at cost. The ARALB club offers monthly testing as a public service to Amateur Radio.

Walk-in applicants are accepted to
the session capacity. Late arrival for
the testing session is discouraged and may result in your rejection. Starting time is 0900 hours.
On testing mornings talk-in by radio
is offered from 0800 to 0900 hours on the 449.780 MHz K6CHE repeater
(minus offset, 131.8 Hz tone). Call W6RO.

What to bring to the testing session: One legible copy
of your current FCC Amateur Radio License; the original and one
legible copy of each Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination
element (CSCE) you wish to present for credit. Bring a sharp pencil, a
pen with black ink and any needed eyeglasses/lenses. Calculations are
made on the reverse side of the answer sheet. Any calculator used must
have the memory cleared.
Payments: At monthly testing sessions bring $4 cash
or an imprinted personal check payable to GLAARG-VEC. For special club
testing sessions bring $15 cash or an imprinted personal check payable
to ARALB.
Special group testing sessions at other times and places may
be arranged in advance though the ARALB VE-in-Charge. The session VEC
then is typically ARRL-VEC with the testing fee at $15 for a single
sitting.
Annual Field Day Testing: This ARALB/ARRL-VEC special
testing session is scheduled at Field Day on the Saturday at 1330
hours. It is planned to be outdoors at the ARALB club Field Day site.
Starting time is 1330 hours.
Talk-in by radio is offered on 145.520 MHz simplex during 1-hour prior to the start of testing, call W6RO. No pre-registration. On-time walk-in applicants are accepted to the session capacity. Late arrival for testing is discouraged and may result in your rejection.
Come at Noon for a tasty Field Day
lunch prepared by ARALB’s own Chef Richard Boone, KF6HKA. Donations for
Field Day meals are welcome. On-site toilet facilities will be
available.
